April is the time of the year when spring is in the air, longer days, new plant life, farmers planting their crops, birds building nests and flowers begin to bloom. Easter is also in April and the time of year we think of new growth in our spiritual lives as we reflect on all God has done for us. He gave the ultimate sacrifice of giving His life on the cross for you and I. If we are willing to lay down our lives and serve God, He has promised that we will live with Him in heaven someday. Let us share God’s love and Easter story of redemption to all we meet. God will bless each one that is willing to do this. Spring is just around the corner as the snow is melting away and the rich brown earth is once again appearing. The seeds that fell from the plants last fall will soon be turning everything a lush bright green and then full of spring colors. Some seeds, like acorns, need those cold temperatures of winter to best germinate, while other seeds need intense heat like Jack pine cones. Either way there is discomfort before beauty. As you look back over your past “winter season” , what seeds have fallen that you now have the chance to grow? Turning pain or hurt or discomfort into some form of beauty for God? Jeremiah 29:11 says this. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Having the correct tool for the job that you need to do is very important and saves a lot of time and frustration. Being in the hardware business, I enjoy seeing all kinds of tools that were made through the years to accomplish specific tasks. It is interesting to see antique tools and try to imagine how it was used and how effective it was for the task at hand. You know, God has given us tools to navigate life and to accomplish his specific plan for each of us. These tools are referred to as spiritual gifts, see Romans 12:6-7. Gifts of Prophecy, Serving, Teaching, Encouragement, Giving, Administration, and Mercy are given to us by the Holy Spirit to edify and encourage those that we meet. Are you using the tools that God gave you to build his kingdom?
